NFL Scout Dishes Out Honest Thoughts On Broncos QB Bo Nix
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Coming into the 2024 NFL Offseason, the Denver Broncos had a huge void to fill at the quarterback position. It was a self-inflicted wound, as they opted to move on from veteran Russell Wilson only two seasons after acquiring him in a blockbuster trade from the Seattle Seahawks.

With his extension not even kicking in yet, the Broncos are eating a historic amount of dead money by releasing him. The team wanted a fresh start under center, as they sought someone who was a better fit for the system Sean Payton is looking to run.

Heading into the 2024 NFL Draft, the Broncos depth chart at center left a lot to be desired. They had Jarrett Stidham as a holdover from last season and acquired Zach Wilson from the New York Jets earlier this week.

But, that didn’t deter them from making a big move with their first-round pick. At No. 12 overall, the Broncos selected Oregon quarterback Bo Nix. It was a move that was gaining steam in the lead-up to the draft, as Nix was connected to Denver as the type of quarterback that Payton likes to work with.

One NFL scout who spoke to NFL Analysis Network agrees with that sentiment. They shared some honest thoughts about Nix’s fit in Denver and believed that it was a match made in heaven.

“I think Bo Nix is a perfect fit with Sean Payton. He’s got a strong arm, can make any NFL throw, and is mobile enough as well. There are some concerns, but I think he’ll fit perfectly and Payton will work wonders with him. Truly, I believe Denver has their long-term franchise quarterback here.”

The Broncos’ biggest Achilles heel in recent years has been quarterback play. Since Peyton Manning retired following the Super Bowl victory to cap off the 2015 season, the team has been seeking out a signal caller.

Since that point, six different quarterbacks have led the team in passing yards in a season. Eventually, Nix will become the seventh different signal caller to lead the team and the scout believes he has what it takes to hold onto that role for years to come.
