You knew that Jim Harbaugh was going to select some Michigan football players in the 2024 NFL draft and the first one came in the third round as linebacker Junior Colson went to the Chargers.

Blake Corum and Roman Wilson were also on the board. But Colson, who most expected to go in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft, was just a perfect fit. The Chargers have a new defensive coordinator and a new defensive scheme in addition to a new head coach.

Junior Colson is perfect for the Chargers

Now, the Chargers get a former two-year starter in that defense. Colson has played in it for the past three seasons and knows it like a second language. You can easily see Colson wearing the green dot and calling the defense for Los Angeles. Beyond that, he’s an elite player. Colson had 256 tackles in his Michigan football career.

Colson was one of the most underrated defenders on the Michigan defense for the past three seasons. People talk about the pass rush and the secondary, but the linebackers never truly got their due.

A former top-100 recruit, Colson is a straight-up freak. He used to play wide receiver in high school and returned a kickoff for a score as a high school senior. His athleticism is off the charts and even though he had to wait longer than expected, he found a perfect home with the former Michigan football head coach.
