This is the Chelsea predicted lineup for their Premier League clash with Arsenal on October 21. The Blues are looking to kick on after a string of good results after the international break stalled their momentum.
Watch: Why the Chelsea project has failed so far
Injury issues and a suspension aside there’s been little debate over a lot of the primary eleven. Robert Sanchez has become the undisputed first option in goals. In front of him has been a back four of Levi Colwill, Axel Disasi, Thiago Silva, and Malo Gusto or Marc Cucurella at right back.
The defensive midfield pivot has been Moises Caicedo alongside Enzo Fernandez with Conor Gallagher pushing forward into the ten role. Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk, and Cole Palmer have carved out spots on the wing with any two of the three sure to start against Arsenal. Up front, Nicolas Jackson has been trusted to lead the line with Armando Broja deputising when needed.
While there is some fluidity to the attack the general setup under Mauricio Pochettino has been a 4-2-3-1. At times it has looked more like a 4-3-3 or a 3-4-3 but at kickoff they have a back four and a dup shielding the back line.
After a shaky start to the season, Chelsea have now won three matches in a row. They’ve kept two clean sheets in that time and scored seven goals, something which would have seemed impossible in the last campaign.
It isn’t the Blues if there aren’t injuries. According to Nizaar Kinsella the trio of Reece James, Disasi, and Jackson are all doubts. Benoit Badisahile is fit enough to make the bench which could signal his first appearance of this term.
Broja, Trevoh Chalobah, Carney Chukwuemeka, Ben Chilwell, Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia, and Christopher Nkunku are all out for this match. Gusto is set to return after a suspension for a red card.
