Former FSU Football QB Announces Third Transfer Destination

Earlier in the off-season, former Florida State quarterback Chubba Purdy announced that he would transfer to San Jose State from Nebraska after spending two seasons with the Cornhuskers and graduating. Now, it appears the signal caller will be staying out west but at a different university. Purdy took to Twitter on Monday to announce his transfer to the University of Nevada.

With the many moving parts involved in the NCAA Transfer Portal, it can be challenging for some players to find a place to call home. It is not uncommon for players to reach multiple stops during their college careers before potentially moving on to the next level.

Purdy committed to the 'Noles after flipping his commitment from the Louisville Cardinals in December 2019. He played two seasons in Tallahassee before deciding to part ways. While at FSU, he threw for 317 yards and four touchdowns, predominantly serving as a backup to Jordan Travis.

Originally from Arizona, Purdy is set to move closer to his home on the West Coast, joining his brother Brock Purdy, who plays for the San Fransico 49ers. The 49ers are set to face the Detroit Lions in this year's NFC Championship game.

In 2023, he completed 31 of 57 pass attempts for 382 yards and two touchdowns to three interceptions at Nebraska. He also had another 180 yards on the ground and a score.

This marks the second quarterback from Florida State moving out west, following AJ Duffy's transfer to San Diego State after the 2023 season.
