Fabian Edwards Added To March 22nd Bellator Card Against Top 5 Middleweight

Former Bellator middleweight title challenger Fabian Edwards will return at the promotion's re-launch on March 22nd in Belfast, Ireland.

Edwards will reportedly face No. 4 Aaron Jeffery in a middleweight showdown. MMA journalist John Morgan was the first to report the Edwards vs. Jeffery booking news.

Fabian, the brother of UFC Welterweight Champion Leon Edwards, is looking to get back in the win column after a loss to Johnny Eblen at Bellator 299. Before that, he earned three consecutive wins, including unanimous decision victories over former Bellator champ Gegard Mousasi and Charlie Ward.

Edwards can potentially earn a rematch against Eblen for the middleweight title if he defeats Jeffery.

Meanwhile, Jeffery is riding high with momentum after a unanimous decision win over Dalton Rosta at Bellator 298 last August. He bounced back following a loss to former title challenger John Salter at Bellator 293.

Jeffery is one of the top Canadian MMA fighters in the sport with a 14-4-0 record to prove it. The former Dana White's Contender Series invitee has won four of his five fights in Bellator.

Edwards vs. Jeffery is a potential No. 1 contender fight in the Bellator middleweight division. It adds to a stacked card on March 22nd, featuring a vacant light heavyweight title bout between Corey Anderson and Karl Moore.

Also reported on Thursday was a featherweight showdown between No. 3 Jeremy Kennedy and James Gallagher. Women's featherweights Leah McCourt and Sinead Kavanagh will fill the co-main event slot.

The March 22nd event is Bellator's first card since PFL's acquisition last November. PFL vs. Bellator, featuring current and former titleholders from both promotions, takes place on February 24th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
