Tons of fans from other teams joked after Texas WR Xavier Worthy's record-setting 40-yard dash run at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. "We can't let the Kansas City Chiefs get him," they said.

Well, that didn't exactly go according to plan. The predominant thought now is that other teams across the league made a big mistake by letting Brett Veach, Andy Reid, and Patrick Mahomes get their hands on this young and talented athlete.

Worthy put the entire NFL on notice in just a few words to the media on Thursday,

"Everybody thought the NFL would never let the Chiefs get to me, but I'm here," Worthy exclaimed. "I'm excited, man. Just to be able to play with Pat, and seeing the success that Tyreek Hill had in this offense, I feel like it'll be amazing."

Worthy is certainly living out a dream scenario for any rookie entering the NFL. He's going to the back-to-back world champions, with a quarterback who has thrived with elite speed at wide receiver, and a head coach who turned his childhood icon into an NFL superstar

"Everybody dreams of playing with Patrick Mahomes, probably one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time," Worthy said. "To be able to play for him, everybody talks about it, but I've been saying for a while that I'm going to be a Chief. Now that I'm here, it's amazing."

The soon-to-be 21-year-old receiver is enjoying the moment, but he isn't letting it all get to his head. He knows that plenty of hard work is ahead of him and that he won't simply be successful because he landed with the Chiefs. He knows that he's got to put in some elbow grease.

“I’m coming with a mentality to work hard and earn my spot in the locker room," Worthy said. "I feel like I can play receiver. I’ve ran a whole route tree, disciplined, smart, know the game very well, so I’m ready to compete and see what’s up in Kansas City.”
