Bears' Matt Eberflus a 'Lucky Charm' For The Chicago Cubs
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Chicago Bears head coach, Matt Eberflus, has been to several Cubs games since he was hired and they love it when Coach Flus comes to Wrigley Field because they've won some huge games while he was in attendance.

The Cubs have outscored their opponents 42-3 with two shutouts while Eberflus was in the crowd.

Matt Eberflus Bringing The Cubs Good Fortune

On Saturday, April 23rd, 2022, the Chicago Cubs demolished the Pittsburgh Pirates 21-0. Matt Eberflus — who was recently hired by the Bears at the time —  threw the first pitch for the Cubs en route to the 21-run whooping.

Kyle Hendricks threw a gem over seven innings of baseball, allowing only two hits, and Alfonso Rivas hit a three-run home run off Zach Thompson in the second inning.

Then almost exactly one year later, on April 21st, 2023, Eberflus was in attendance again for a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Cody Bellinger, Trey Mancini, Patrick Wisdom, and Nico Hoerner hit four home runs combined off Julio Urias (2), Jake Reed, and Andre Jackson.

The Cubs beat the Dodgers 13-0 thanks to a near-perfect showing from Drew Smyly who carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning.

Lastly, on Friday, April 19th, 2024, Matt Eberflus was at Wrigley Field for an afternoon matchup with the Miami Marlins. Chicago Bears fans showed their excitement for football season in the crowd at Wrigley chanting "Caleb Williams".

The Cubs beat the Marlins 8-3 with 10 hits and nine combined strikeouts from the pitching staff. It's safe to assume that Bears head coach Matt Eberflus is always welcome at Wrigley Field so long as he continues bringing good fortune.
