Astros Host Cactus Jack HBCU Classic
Thomas Shea-USA TODAY Sports

Travis Scott has been seen at plenty of Houston Astros games as the local area native loves watching his hometown team. The Astros Foundation is hosting the Cactus Jack HBCU Classic this weekend, a round-robin collegiate baseball tournament.

The Cactus Jack HBCU Classic will feature Texas Southern University, Prairie View A&M, Southern University and A&M College, Grambling State University, Jackson State University, and Alcorn State University.

Other events will go on during the weekend, giving the players a big-league feel.

The tournament will feature state-to-state game matchups, a college fair, and a Travis Scott bobblehead.

Prior to the games this weekend, Scott hosted a celebrity softball game. They played the game at Minute Maid, where the games will be played this weekend.

Adrian Peterson, CJ Stroud, and other athletes were in attendance.

Stroud was the star of the show as the Houston Texans quarterback is a fan favorite after an impressive campaign ended with him winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.

He addressed the comments he made about every athlete wanting to play baseball last November, saying that the guaranteed money baseball players make is attractive.

Baseball players are compensated well compared to other sports. Stroud, however, will land a massive deal if he continues to play the way that he did in his rookie season.

Stroud was one of many celebrities at the game as Scott had many stars in attendance.

In 2022, the Cactus Jack Foundation granted 100 HBCU-graduating seniors $10,000 scholarships, according to Houston Public Media.

Scott and his company Cacti Hard Seltzer also bought the stadium naming rights to the Astros' Spring Training facility they share with the Washington Nationals in Florida.

The hip hop mogul continues to be a major part of Houston sports and has inserted himself even more into business with the Astros.
