Ralf Schumacher: 'I Miss My Michael From Back Then'

The brother of the seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher, Ralf Schumacher, opened up about how he misses the old Michael.

The Formula One legend Michael Schumacher suffered a severe accident when he was skiing in the French Alps and almost died. While the seven-time World Champion survived he has never been the same, according to the reports.

The current health state of the German driver is held private, and only a few select people are allowed to meet with him. His former team principal, Jean Todt, who was allowed to meet with Schumacher, said Michael is still here but not the same.

The Champion's younger brother, Ralf, recently opened up about the unfortunate situation. The 48-year-old told Bild he misses his brother:

"I miss my Michael from back then. Life is sometimes unfair. Michael had often been lucky in his life, but then came this tragic accident. Thank goodness we were able to do a lot thanks to modern medical possibilities, but still, nothing is the same as before."

Ralf confessed it has been a "drastic" experience not only for him but for the whole family, including Mick, who also competed in F1 throughout seasons 2021 and 2022.

"I can say for myself that his accident was also a very bad and drastic experience for me. But not only for me, for example, but also for Michael's children: Mick, as we all know, was there as a young teenager."

Michael has been a mentor to his younger brother. The two siblings competed in F1 at the same time at one point and became the first-ever brothers to take first and second place in a race during the 2001 Canadian Grand Prix. Ralf added:

"Michael is not just my brother, he was also my coach and mentor when I was younger. He taught me everything about karting. We may be seven years apart in age, but he was always by my side back then."
