Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Sebastian Vettel has been making headlines lately after hinting an interest to come out of retirement. The four-time world champion tested the Porsche 963 Hypercar amidst rumors of a return to Formula 1. Now, Porsche LMDh Director Urs Kuratle has revealed that the German driver was yet to make a call on racing in the World Endurance Championship.

Kuratle mentioned that Vettel was reported to be in discussions with multiple teams over a possible F1 comeback. However, the Porsche team boss claimed that the carmaker was only aware that Sebastian Vettel had not decided on a racing return at the moment. Although, Urs Kuratle insisted that things would get clear in the coming weeks.

We have read in the media that he [Sebastian Vettel] is in conversations with several people, but we only know that he has not yet decided what he will do.. We will know in the coming weeks. Urs Kuratle told Motorsport-Total

The 55-year-old highlighted that the four-time world champion was still considering racing at Le Mans with Porsche. Kuratle affirmed that the German carmaker would look for the best possible drivers for its Hypercar lineup with many good options potentially on the table. As such, Sebastian Vettel might run out of time if his decision is delayed.

We also do not know if he will compete with us in the future. We always look at what is best for the team. We have many good pilots. Urs Kuratle asserted

Porsche team boss claims Sebastian Vettel was ‘motivated’ during Hypercar test

The four-time world champion impressed the German carmaker after his first-ever outing in a LMDh Hypercar. Urs Kuratle admitted that he only got a few moments to talk to Vettel before the 36-year-old got into the Porsche 963. The Porsche team boss revealed that he was listening to the team radio of the German driver during the session.

Kuratle claimed that Sebastian Vettel was motivated and keen on learning the workings of the LMDh Hypercar. The 55-year-old reckoned that the German driver’s feedback was in line with Porsche’s factory drivers. However, the Porsche team boss was intrigued to discover the nuances of a four-time world champion.

He was very motivated and wanted to learn about everything that was happening... Generally speaking, he agreed with what the regular pilots said, but it was interesting to discover the nuances of a pilot of his caliber. Urs Kuratle concluded

Sebastian Vettel remains interested in potentially coming out of retirement. The four-time world champion seems to be out of options for an F1 comeback. Subsequently, Porsche’s Hypercar program could be the best opportunity for the German driver. However, it remains to be seen if Vettel does indeed try to conquer Le Mans in the Porsche 963 in the future.
