Martin Brundle deems Carlos Sainz’ potential Red Bull move a ‘no-brainer’

Carlos Sainz has taken the F1 world by storm, claiming podiums one after the other. Martin Brundle believes with Sainz’s youth and experience, he is a perfect candidate for Red Bull. Sainz will run out of his contract at the end of this season with Ferrari. It leaves the door open for many teams to sign the talented driver.

After his win in Australia, Carlos Sainz has managed to catch the eyes of Red Bull. However, the question is whether Red Bull will sign the Spaniard or will they extend the contract of Sergio Perez. The second Red Bull driver who runs out of his contract at the end of this season, has everything on the line.

Despite the Perez situation, Brundle believes that Red Bull has the option to bring in the Spaniard who has proven his worth on multiple occasions.

So will Perez kick the Red Bull seat? That’s the key, that’s the cork in the bottle. Because putting Sainz in the Red Bull would be a no-brainer for me – or an Aston Martin or a Mercedes-Benz for that matter. In recent times, there has been a major shift in the driver market, as many drivers are running out of contracts at the end of this season. However, this situation might be in favour of Sainz who now has become a major attraction for many teams.

Carlos Sainz has been given an ultimatum by Audi. The German manufacturer has made their interest in the Spaniard very clear since the very beginning. Many teams are interested in having the services of the 29-year-old from next year onwards.

However, according to Martin Brundle Sainz should take his time.

The problem Team Sainz have is that Sauber, let’s call them Audi going forward, are putting him under pressure to do a long-term deal, which means he will then be at Sauber next year treading water, and then hanging all of his chances on how quickly Audi can get their team and their power unit together and become competitive. And that’s no small task. My advice to Carlos and his dad would be that things happen very quickly in this business. Two weeks is a very long time in F1 and just keep your options open. Sainz himself has admitted that he will speed up the process of negotiations with the various teams. With his brilliant performances, he has opened many doors. Now, he just has to make a careful choice, as his fate in F1 depends on it. The upcoming months could give a fairer picture regarding the same.
