Lando Norris' three most memorable F1 races as he continues to search for a win

Lando Norris is yet to score that elusive first Formula One victory in his 107 appearances, setting the record for the most podiums (14) without a race win.

Norris will soon become the driver with McLaren's fifth most race starts, too, surpassing four-time world champion Alain Prost's 199.

Let's look at the 24-year-old's best drives as he searches for his elusive first victory.

Austrian Grand Prix 2020

Formula One finally kicked off at the Austrian Grand Prix in July after the COVID-19 shutdown in 2020.

The season-opener at Red Bull Ring was a day of carnage, with just 11 of the 20 starters finishing the 71-lap race.

After challenging Max Verstappen for second place in the opening metres, McLaren's Norris quickly dropped to fifth behind the hard-charging Lewis Hamilton and Alex Albon.

After two quick safety car interventions, Norris sat in fifth with 10 laps to go. Hamilton was given a five-second time penalty for causing a collision with Albon.

Norris pulled off a late braking move on Perez at Turn 3, snatching fourth place. He continued charging forward and got within the five-second gap required to usurp Hamilton, taking his first Formula One podium with third place in a dramatic end to F1's season opener.

Singapore Grand Prix 2023

The 2023 Singapore Grand Prix sparked Norris' run of four consecutive podiums as McLaren emerged as Red Bull's closest challenger at the end of 2023.

The British driver started fourth while neither Red Bull made the top 10 in qualifying in Singapore.

Norris passed Charles Leclerc in the pit lane as the safety car was brought out 20 laps into the race. Sitting in fifth, he made light work of Red Bull's Verstappen and Perez (who had yet to make a pit stop), improving to third place.

Both Mercedes drivers, meanwhile, pitted for fresh tires under the virtual safety car, allowing Norris to take second place as the race entered its closing stages.

Race leader Carlos Sainz resisted Norris, who tried every trick in the book to get past. The McLaren driver swarmed all over the Spaniard but couldn't find a way through on a track notoriously difficult for overtakes.

Norris finished second, taking his third podium of the season after the Woking-based team's tough start to 2023.

British Grand Prix 2023

A podium finish at home is a special moment for any driver. 13 drivers have stood on the podium during their home race at the British Grand Prix, with Norris taking his maiden podium at Silverstone last year.

The McLaren driver struggled with an underdeveloped car during the opening rounds of 2023 before a significant upgrade in Austria saw the team make a step forward.

The 24-year-old Norris qualified second for the British Grand Prix, just two-tenths slower than pole-sitter Verstappen. The home hero passed the Dutchman off the line and led the opening few laps.

After keeping the world champion at bay, Norris relinquished the lead five laps into the race. With 18 laps to go, the safety car was deployed, giving Hamilton a chance to take second on grippier, softer tires.

Norris used all his experience to hold onto second until the checkered flag in a remarkable show of confidence under pressure.
