Felipe Massa reveals the flaw that makes Ferrari lose points despite having ‘two very good drivers’

Ferrari sustained a very mediocre performance in the 2023 season. Despite the drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz performing at the A-game, the Maranello could not provide the drivers a shot at the championship. Hence, ahead of the 2024 season, Felipe Massa revealed the flaws within the team that led to the sub-standard performance in 2023.

Felipe Massa did not hesitate in calling out the Ferrari crew over their mistakes and blunders down the season. Massa iterated that the problem within the Maranello was not the pilots. Additionally, the Brazilian highlighted that both the drivers in the team worked well with each other and just needed a competitive car to showcase their skills within the sport.

It is clear that the problem in Maranello is definitely not the pilots Ferrari has two very good pilots who work well together. They just need a competitive car to show what level they can be in the title fight Massa told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Subsequently, Massa renounced his wish to see the Monegasque in a car capable of fighting for the championship. The 42-year-old recalled the fact that it had been way too long since Ferrari last concluded the season as world champions. Hence Ferrari needs to work desperately on their form for the upcoming season and finally provide the pilots with a chance at championship contention.

I hope Charles finally has a competitive Ferrari, without the reliability issues of recent years and to offer constant performance to challenge Max in the championship. Too many years have passed since Ferrari achieved this goal,

Felipe Massa underlined the slight advantage for Charles Leclerc

Although both the drivers were at par with each other in terms of performance for the 2023 season, the Brazilian felt that Leclerc had a slight advantage over his Spanish counterpart. The Monegasque was termed as the master of qualifying sessions by Massa. This comment was backed by the 23 career pole positions scored by Leclerc.

However, Massa was not hesitant to acknowledge the fact that the 26-year-old made mistakes during races. Regardless, the extra amounts of pressure, combined with the minimal chances of winning during a season further caused issues for the driver during the race. Nonetheless, Leclerc has proven time and again his capabilities as a driver and also the fact that he very much deserves a world championship title.

Hence the Maranello needs to seriously work on their challenger for the following season and provide the pilots with the chance. Ferrari aims for championship contention in the next season and also to minimize mistakes down the season.
