Ex-F1 champion Damon Hill claims Russian President Vladimir Putin’s $360 billion frozen funds should be given to the Russian people

The entire grid prepares for the upcoming challenges in the 2024 season, with all the teams having revealed their challengers for the season. The Formula 1 grid actively responded to Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine back in 2022. Now, Ex F1 champion Damon Hill has spoken over the entire matter and Vladimir Putin‘s frozen funds.

Tensions between Russia and Ukraine have been high ever since Moscow captured Crimea back in 2014. However, on 24th February 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin put forth a special military operation to ‘demilitarize and denazify’ the entire Ukrainian region. This later turned into an attempt to acquire the entire region under Russian control and has been still going on. The entire attempt to occupy the region has left tens of thousands of deaths and refugees in the entire country. Hence the entire country of Russia faced major backlash over the entire status quo.

Formula 1 decided to officially cancel the Russian Grand Prix in the wake of Russia’s notorious behavior all over the world. Additionally, teams like the Haas F1 team ousted the Russian driver Nikita Mazepin unwarranted and acquired a former Haas driver in their arsenal following the entire conflict. Amidst this, Hill brought up the point of Putin’s frozen funds in his Western accounts and sided against him.

In a recent tweet on X, Damon Hill shared his opinions on the entire fund. The Briton mentioned that there was no surety over the ownership of the funds and questioned if Putin truly owned the funds. Additionally, Hill called out the leader and asserted that the entire funds belonged to the Russian citizens and needed to be returned to them. Furthermore, the 63-year-old demanded immediate action to stop the leader and insisted on halting the war.

Is this true (that Putin has $360bln in 'free world' banks) and can you just decide to talk this money? Doesn't it belong to the Russian people anyway? Nice thought though. This man has to be stopped. Hill told on his X account (@HillF1/X).

Bernie Ecclestone claimed he would take a bullet for Vladimir Putin

Amongst the entire F1 paddock taking a stance against the Russian Leader, Ex F1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone decided to speak for the motion for Putin’s actions. Ecclestone sided with the leader, calling him a ‘sensible person,’ and urged Ukraine Leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy to listen to Putin and avoid the war that Russia ironically declared.

Apart from this, the Briton asserted that he would ‘take a bullet’ for Putin since the Leader potentially could’ve avoided the war if Ukrainian authorities communicated better. However, subsequently, the Former CEO published a public apology for his previous comments siding with the Russian supremo. Additionally, Ecclestone stated that the leader’s actions shouldn’t punish Russian athletes since the general population was still innocent.

Vladimir Putin’s attempt to reunite Ukraine with Russia seems to have stagnated in recent months. Additionally, this conflict has impacted the economy of Putin’s country. However, Europe continues to pay millions of dollars to Russia in gas payments regularly, essentially funding Moscow’s war machine. It remains to be seen if this devastating conflict reaches a truce in the coming months.
