Damon Hill , the 1996 world champion, believes that even if Sebastian Vettel is to make a comeback into F1, he wouldn’t be too thrilled about it. Recently, after the German driver did a test drive for Porsche, the speculations of his possible F1 comeback started resurfacing.

Vettel himself had admitted being in touch with Toto Wolff, perhaps not over the seat but for the overall understanding. In recent interviews, even Lewis Hamilton stated he would love to see Vettel in a Mercedes.

However, despite the hype around Vettel, Damon Hill has no interest in seeing the German driver back on the grid.

He did burn very brightly for a very intense period and then something happened. It petered out and it bumped along. I never really saw that form [later on] of the youthful Vettel that was dominant. Damon Hill said while speaking on the F1 show

Hill believes that after Vettel’s move to Ferrari, the job became more like a labor for him and he lost his spark. He further feels that any team principal should think it through before making a deal with the German driver.

However, despite the various rumors around Sebastian Vettel, he has not officially made it known that he will be making a comeback on the grid for the 2025 season. The 36-year-old is still looking at other options.

Sebastian Vettel is in touch with various people in F1

Sebastian Vettel retired from F1 at the end of the 2022 season. He could have continued if he wanted, but after spending a lot of years, he decided to take a break. After two years out of the sport, the hype has once again started to build around his potential comeback.

Moreover, his ardent fans are desperate to see him sparkling his magic around an F1 track again.

But I did speak to others as well. I'm still keeping in touch every now and then. I have some projects and ideas, together with F1, and we will see if they turn out or not, so I am staying in touch. I don't know. It has to be a couple more phone calls and conversations I guess to really find out a little bit more. Sebastian Vettel told: Sky Sports F1

Vettel, being a former four-time world champion, has a massive pedigree at the pinnacle of motor racing. He is one of the best drivers to ever step foot into the sport and considering this, it will be quite fitting for Mercedes to replace Hamilton with Vettel. In the upcoming months, the situation regarding the second seat is going to further develop.
