Maybe you were expecting a forgettable Wednesday, but Billie Eilish had other ideas.
The 19-year-old artist dropped "Lost Cause," the fourth single from her forthcoming sophomore studio album Happier Than Ever, as well as the song's accompanying music video:
Eilish directed the video, and the finished product looks like what teenagers worldwide have always thought they were filming during sleepovers. "We had the time of our lives being hot & shooting this," she wrote on Instagram.
"Lost Cause" has everything: matching monochrome outfits, snacks, Silly String, Twister, video games and choreographed dances. "You ain't nothin' but a lost causе (Cause)," Eilish sings in the chorus. "And this ain't nothin' like it once was (Was) / I know you think you'rе such an outlaw / But you got no job."
Eilish is the antithesis of that. The Los Angeles native has already earned seven Grammys, including back-to-back record of the year victories ("Bad Guy," "Everything I Wanted"). She additionally unveiled her acclaimed Apple TV documentary The World's a Little Blurry in February, followed by her self-titled book last month.
"Lost Cause" follows "Your Power," released in late April:
Happier Than Ever is due July 30.
Eilish will then embark on a (mostly sold out) world tour in February.
