Ryan Reynolds is learning to tap dance for 'Spirited' with Will Ferrell

Well, this is fun to visualize.

"I am learning to tap dance," Ryan Reynolds shared on LIVE with Kelly and Ryan on Wednesday morning (Aug. 4). "I'm shooting a musical in Boston right now with Mr. Will Ferrell. I'm very excited about it. He's been a comedy idol of mine for a long, long time."

"The movie is written for people who sing and dance, which we have no history of," the 44-year-old Deadpool star continued. "We're being taught by Chloe Arnold how to tap dance. She's like a tap god among several other tap gods."

Guest host Katie Lowes guessed that Reynolds is a better tapper than Ferrell, which Reynolds shut down right away.

"Will is amazing," he said. "He's an amazing athlete. He's run multiple marathons. Don't sleep on Will Ferrell. Dude can move."

The project in question is Spirited, an Apple Original Films musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic novel A Christmas Carol that will feature an original soundtrack. Sean Anders and John Morris serve as directors, and the cast also includes Octavia Spencer and Sunita Mani.

Reynolds previously shared a glimpse at the first day of filming in early July:

Spirited aside, Reynolds is busy promoting Free Guy. The Shawn Levy-directed action/sci-fi comedy opens in theaters Aug. 13, months after its original December 2020 release date:
