Rebel Moon director Zack Snyder is hyping up his “insane” deleted scenes.

Talking with Empire, Synder says to look out for his director’s cut of Rebel Moon: Part 1 - A Child of Fire, which will apparently contain “all the gore and the hard R-ness and the nudity and the violence and crazy s**t" that initially got left out.”

"They're insane," Snyder continues. "It'll be interesting to see what the [critics] say about the director's cuts. That's a different kettle of fish."

Netflix

The extended cut will have to be transformative to make the film better. When it released on Netflix in December 2023, Rebel Moon: Part 1 - A Child of Fire was savaged by critics, and currently sits at a lowly 21% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Synder has accepted the poor reception. "I don't really have a rebuttal to the reviews. For whatever reason, the reaction to my movies is very polarising, and it always has been. The movie, it doesn't seem like there's that much in it that would warrant such visceral responses."

Another Rebel Moon star spoke out on brutal reviews when Sofia Boutella said, "It's hard to see something being demolished to that extent.”

Synder does have a potential saving grace in the sequel, Rebel Moon: Part 2 – The Scargiver. It releases on Netflix April 12, 2024, with the seemingly much more adult-oriented director's cuts of both films following in the Summer.
