Kristin Davis addresses Kim Cattrall's 'And Just Like That' absence: 'We'd never disrespect Samantha'

Kim Cattrall is not part of "And Just Like That...," HBO Max's limited revival series of Sex and the City.

That has basically been a foregone conclusion since well before "AJLT " was announced that Cattrall was done associating with Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, especially because of how publicly Cattrall has expressed her disdain for SJP over the years.

Davis stopped by "TODAY" on Tuesday to promote "AJLT" and addressed Cattrall's absence — emphasizing that the new series will "explain what happened to Samantha."

"We love Samantha," said Davis, who has played Charlotte York since "SATC" premiered in 1998. "Samantha is never not going to be a part in some way, right? So, there is respect for Samantha. It's part of the story. We would never disrespect Samantha."

Cattrall portrayed Samantha Jones for the duration of the six-year run "Sex and the City" had on HBO from 1998 to 2004, as well as the two spinoff feature-length films.

"And Just Like That..." will premiere its first two episodes Thursday on HBO Max, with one new episode dropping to the streamer every subsequent Thursday until Feb. 3, 2022.
