Jason Momoa teases 'Aquaman' sequel: 'It's absolutely wonderful'

"This Aquaman, this time around, I feel like [we're] pulling out all the stops, buddy," Momoa, who portrayed the titular DC superhero in the original 2018 blockbuster told Fandango in the above clip. "We all learned something on the first one. It's exciting because I haven't made too many sequels. I just know that even on the page, it's absolutely wonderful."

The 42-year-old actor continued: 

"There is so much going on. I think the stakes are a lot higher. There's a lot of comedy. So, I mean, I giggled reading it. There's a lot of fun. ... I think just in the last three or four years, just technology's constantly, it's just moving at such a rapid pace that what we're doing with underwater—I mean, that's what made the first one so amazing. It's just gone on to a whole other level, so I'm excited for everyone [to see it] because it's just a lot more heart. There's a lot more at risk."

The Hollywood Reporter provided an exclusive casting update last Friday (Sept. 24), also noting that plot details are still unknown:

"Jani Zhao, Indya Moore and Vincent Regan have joined the Warner Bros. DC movie that is now in production with James Wan in the director's seat. Meanwhile, Randall Park has returned to reprise his role from the first big-budget installment in the adventures of the man who would be king of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis.

"Jason Momoa is back as the half-human, half-Atlantean hero as are many of the first movie’s actors, including Patrick Wilson as Orm, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Amber Heard as Mera and Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus."
