Cruella has only been in theaters—and available to stream on Disney Plus with Premier Access—for five days, but talk about a potential sequel is already swirling.
And one Rotten Tomatoes interviewer might have the best idea so far: "I was thinking of The Godfather 2 when they did a mashup of, like, [Marlon] Brando and [Al] Pacino. Could you ever see a mashup, back-and-forth, like a prequel-sequel kind of thing?"
The idea would bring Glenn Close, who portrayed Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmatians (1996) and 102 Dalmatians (2002) back into the fold.
"I'm writing the letter now," Emma Thompson responded. "Actually, does anyone got any paper? 'Dear Mr. Disney... Please can we do exactly what was just suggested in this interview?'"
It was then suggested that Thompson, who won an Oscar for her writing contributions to Sense and Sensibility, write the script herself. Emma Stone was immediately intrigued.

Cruella , starring Stone as the titular character, is the live-action origin story directed by Craig Gillespie. In it, a young woman named Estella comes of age in 1970s London with an itch for mischief and eventually takes on her Cruella de Vil persona.
"I feel like we've only just met her," Gillespie told Collider when asked if he would like to see another Cruella-centric film. "I'd love to now see the full-blown Cruella, fully loaded. She's managed to get the support system around her and she can really expand on her brand. I'd love to see where that takes her and how you could almost destroy her from inside out, if she's not careful with all that power."
