Brooks & Dunn, Lainey Wilson, and Sammy Hagar to Honor Toby Keith at 2024 CMT Awards

Country music icon Toby Keith, who passed away in February after battling cancer, will be honored at the 2024 CMT Music Awards this Sunday. The star-studded tribute will feature performances by Brooks & Dunn, Lainey Wilson, and Sammy Hagar, accompanied by Keith's band. Lukas Nelson and Roger Clemens will also make special appearances.

Known for hits like "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue" and "Should've Been a Cowboy," Keith's legacy includes over 44 million albums sold and a recent posthumous induction into the 2024 Country Music Hall of Fame. Throughout his career, the proud Oklahoman topped the charts with 32 No. 1 singles out of his 61 Billboard Hot Country Songs entries. In 2021, he was honored with the National Medal of Arts.

The 2024 CMT Music Awards will be hosted by Kelsea Ballerini and broadcast live from Austin, Texas’ Moody Center on Sunday, April 7, at 8:00-11:00 PM ET/PT on CBS. The show will also be available for live streaming and on-demand viewing on Paramount+.

Among the lineup of performers are Jason Aldean, Trisha Yearwood, Little Big Town with Sugarland, and newcomers like Dasha and Parker McCollum with Brittney Spencer. Presenters include familiar faces like Emma Roberts, Gayle King, and Billy Bob Thornton.

The event will also unveil the top three nominees for Video of the Year, with fans able to vote during the live broadcast. Cody Johnson, Jelly Roll, Kelsea Ballerini, Lainey Wilson, and Megan Moroney lead the nominations.

The 2024 CMT Music Awards will be rebroadcast on Thursday, April 11, at 7:00 PM ET/PT on CMT. Following the encore, a new one-hour tribute special titled "CMT Music Awards Celebrates Toby Keith" will premiere at 10:00-11:00 PM ET/PT, paying homage to the late country legend.
