Shane Warne, who is considered to be one of the greatest cricketers of all time, died of a suspected heart attack on Koh Samui island, where he was enjoying a vacation. The Australian government brought his body back to Australia where he was given a state funeral.
Shane Warne’s family and friends bid the great leg-spinner a heartfelt farewell at a private funeral in Melbourne. Warne’s three children, Brooke, Jackson and Summer, and parents Keith and Brigette, were joined by about 80 guests to express their final goodbyes on Sunday. The gathering featured stalwarts from the cricketing world, with retired Australian Test captains Mark Taylor, Allan Border and Michael Clarke in attendance along with former England skipper Michael Vaughan.
Warne played 145 Tests and 194 ODIs between 1992 and 2007. Chosen as one of Wisden’s Five Cricketers of the Century, he finished his career with 293 wickets in ODIs and 708 wickets in Tests, the most by a legspinner in the format.
