A swashbuckling century from opener Jason Roy and an all-round effort from Sam Curran helped England swat aside Bangladesh in the second ODI in Dhaka on Friday, March 3. Besides Roy and Curran, England also benefited from vital contributions from Jos Buttler, Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali at different junctures of the game as they secured the series 2-0 with a game to go. Meanwhile, the defeat meant that Bangladesh endured their first ODI series loss at home since 2016.

Chasing 327, Bangladesh stayed behind the eight ball after they were jolted very early by the precociously talented Curran. The left-arm seamer dismissed Litton Das for a golden duck and followed it up with an outswinger to Najmul Shanto, who nicked behind. While Mushfiqur Rahim thwarted Curran’s hopes of achieving a hat-trick, the left-arm seamer removed the veteran batter in his next over anyway to leave the hosts wobbling at 9/3, effectively nipping the chase in the bud.
