Like his coordinator counterpart Jordan Lesley, offensive coordinator Chad Scott was in front of the media in months for the first time in months on Monday. And with WVU spring ball now underway, Scott discussed the possibility of the offensive reaching another level in 2024.

Unlike at this point one year ago when Scott was just getting his feet wet after being promoted and the offense had to replace most of its production, the Mountaineers can rely on some continuity this year.

With Garrett Greene, Kole Taylor, Jahiem White, Traylon Ray and countless other key pieces returning, Scott knows it’s his job to see they all keep developing. For Scott, the spring is about making sure the chemistry between Greene and his weapons grows even stronger.

Echoing what head coach Neal Brown said to kickoff spring ball on Thursday, Scott agrees Greene needs to work on his accuracy above all else. Scott believes if Greene can do that,  the rest will take care of itself. Just like it’s been in recent years, the running game will be the driving force of the WVU offense.

As far as newcomers, Scott touched on the addition of wide receiver Jaden Bray. Scott discussed Bray being added with the intention he would become the leader of the room and his big game experience would rub off on the younger receivers. Also mentioned by Brown, Scott talked about Bray being utilized as an outside threat.

Chad Scott, who previously served as the run-game coordinator before advancing to offensive coordinator role, wants to help mold White into an every down back. Scott does have concerns about last season’s freshman sensation handling more of a workload, but brought up the comfort of having CJ Donaldson back apart of the fold. Getting Donaldson back to where he was in 2022 is a goal for Scott as well, although he knows patience will be need due to offseason surgery.
