Clemson Tigers running back Will Shipley will not play in Saturday's game against Notre Dame as he recovers from a head injury, according to ESPN college football insider Pete Thamel.

Shipley went into the concussion protocol after absorbing a collision in Clemson's loss to NC State last weekend and did not recover well enough to warrant his returning to this week's game.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said that Shipley was day-to-day this week and that it would be up to the team's doctors to determine if he was ready to play again.

The team's top rushing contributor this season, Shipley averages 4.6 yards per attempt while amassing 515 total yards and five touchdowns this season.

In his career, Shipley has rushed for 2,436 total yards. He also has 20 receptions for 120 yards this season.

Clemson dropped to 4-4 overall this season after last week's loss and are hoping to avoid a three-game losing streak against the Fighting Irish.

Notre Dame is a 3.5 point favorite against Clemson, according to SI Sportsbook, and enters the game playing behind a scoring defense that ranks top 10 nationally.
