What Are Kyle McCord's Prospects In NCAA Transfer Portal?
USA Today Sports

The NCAA Transfer Portal is in full swing, and the Ohio State Buckeyes have been one of the most affected teams in the Power 5.

In fact, on Monday morning, the Buckeyes lost arguably the biggest name in the portal, junior quarterback Kyle McCord.

So where could McCord end up? As an accomplished starting quarterback in the Power 5 that had his team on the precipice of a Big Ten Championship Game berth, there are plenty of programs that will be lining up in an attempt to get McCord to lead their offenses,

And according to 247Sports college football analyst Brad Crawford, there are eight that stick out: Miami, NC State, Rutgers, Louisville, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Nebraska, and Pittsburgh.

That said, according to another report from Pete Nakos of On3, Nebraska is likely not going to be in the mix.

"Kyle is not going to want to play for a lesser Big Ten opponent," Nakos said. "He doesn't want to be in a position where he plays Ohio State. I don't think that's something he wants to do."

McCord, who started every game for the Buckeyes this season, became a subject of criticism for the fan base down the stretch, in part due to his turnover issues, with the junior throwing five of his six total interceptions for the season over his last five games.

However, the two biggest picks of the season game in the most important game, with McCord tossing a pair of critical interceptions in the Buckeyes 30-24 loss to the Wolverines.

McCord also faced backlash for his comments about the Michigan game, some of which came from former Buckeyes players.

With all that said, he ranked 14th in the country in QB rating, while completing 65.8 percent of his passes for 3,170 yards and 24 touchdowns, with just six picks. He also led the Buckeyes to an 11-1 regular season and a No. 7 finish in the College Football Playoff rankings.
