Vols defender predicted to land with SEC program on Tennessee's 2024 schedule

A Tennessee Vols defender that's currently in the NCAA transfer portal could end up playing against UT in 2024.

Earlier this month, Vols defensive back Doneiko Slaughter entered the transfer portal.

Slaughter, a Georgia native, signed with Tennessee during the 2020 recruiting cycle as a three-star recruit. He was rated as the No. 40 safety in the nation and the No. 48 player in the state of Georgia.

On Thursday, 247Sports' Danny West, an Arkansas insider, predicted that Slaughter will land with the Razorbacks

Slaughter took a visit to Arkansas earlier this week (Vols transfer offensive lineman Addison Nichols is also expected to visit Arkansas).

"The cost of living is very cheap. I can bring my family here and have no problems off the field," said Slaughter to 247Sports. "That, and Coach Pitt (Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman). He's a great character guy."

Slaughter also told 247Sports that he doesn't have any other visits scheduled and he plans to make a decision by the end of the weekend. It seems likely that he'll choose Arkansas with no other serious suitors publicly in the mix.

Tennessee will travel to Fayetteville on October 5 next fall for a matchup against the Razorbacks. And it sounds like Slaughter could be on the opposing sideline when the Vols make that trip.
