USC Football: Real Reason Revealed For Top Recruiter's Exit

Your USC Trojans continue to bleed personnel.

This time, however, it sounds like USC let go some expendable staffers, rather than their departures happening of their own volition.

Luca Evans of The Orange County Register has learned that the Trojans apparently were behind the departures of rush ends coach coach Roy Manning and inside linebackers coach Brian Odom. 

The source informs Evans that the decision to give newly-hired defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn an opportunity to bring in new staffers under him.

Former DC Alex Grinch was ultimately let go midway through the 2023 season.

"Anybody connected to Grinch is now gone," Evans' source informed him.

Manning seemed  guardedly optimistic for his next gig, per Norton.

“Never stop believing that what’s coming is better …. I’ll do the same,” Manning wrote on his personal Twitter/X account.

As Evans notes, Manning had been one of the top recruits for the Trojans this past season. He made the push for edge rushers edge like Kameryn Fountain, Elijah Newby, and Lorenzo Cowan.

Lynn led one of the top defenses in the country while with the UCLA Bruins, and the club made quick work out of USC in their lone encounter of the year. Now, under Lincoln Riley, we're hoping he only improves.
