UNLV Football’s impressive start to the season continued Friday night in a 31-20 win against the New Mexico Lobos. Despite falling behind 17-0 in the first half, the Rebels (4-1, 2-0) mounted a furious comeback led by sophomore QB Doug Brumfield and senior RB Aidan Robbins. The two scored the two lone offensive touchdowns for the Rebels in the win.

Rebels sophomore DB Cameron Oliver came through with the game-winning play for the Rebels, picking off New Mexico QB Miles Kendrick with the score 24-20 and returning the interception 21 yards for a touchdown to put the game out of reach for the Lobos.

Brumfield continues to play well as the leader of the UNLV offense, passing for 233 yards on 24 completions and 33 attempts and an interception against New Mexico. He also ran for 19 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. Robbins produced over 100 total scrimmage yards with 79 yards rushing and a touchdown on 23 carries and 23 receiving yards on three catches.

Junior WR Senika McKie had his best game of the season Friday, compiling 72 yards on five catches from Brumfield. LB Austin Ajiake continues to lead the defense, racking up 12 total tackles (eight solo) and two tackles for loss.

The Rebels sit alone at the top of the West Division standings in the Mountain West Conference at 2-0. The Rebels also lead all Mountain West teams with four wins on the season.

UNLV will look to continue their hot streak Friday, Oct. 7 on the road against San Jose State.
