This stat unveils Keon Sabb as a great move for Alabama’s secondary from transfer portal
Matt Krohn-USA TODAY Sports

The University of Alabama football program added a marquee defensive back to its secondary.

Keon Sabb, a New Jersey native, chose the Crimson Tide from the NCAA transfer portal after spending two seasons at Michigan.

He assisted the Wolverines to a Big Ten Championship and a College Football Playoff National Championship in 2023.

Sabb collected 28 tackles, five pass breakups, and two interceptions in 14 games last year. The talented safety returned an interception for a touchdown for the Wolverines, but is looking forward to adding veteran experience to a young defensive backfield in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Sabb was graded as one of the top-10 transfer safeties in college football, per Pro Football Focus.

He graded out at 82.1 for his efforts last season, standing behind Shawn Asbury II (Indiana) and Caleb Downs (Ohio State).

The 6-foot-1, 208-pounder replaces Downs, a former SEC Freshman of the Year for Alabama, who transferred to the Buckeyes.
