'This Place Has Always Been Home': Dak Prescott Holds MSU Close to His Heart Throughout Professional Career

Former Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott returned to the sidelines of Starkville over the past weekend for MSU's spring game and the passing of the harness to the Bulldogs' new live mascot.

Davis Wade holds a close place in the heart of Prescott -- one of the best players to ever take the field there -- and it is something that he has never forgotten about throughout the time he's achieved national stardom at the NFL level.

"This place has always been home to me since I came here at 17 years old," Prescott said. "Being able to come back home, see people that you love and just get this feeling -- just euphoria of it alone is something special."

And of course, to share the name with the mascot is something special.

"They've named the mascot after me, so I had to come back and see that...For the mascot, of this university, to be named after me, it's humbling. It's something I hold very special to me." 

Other players alongside Prescott included Jeffery Simmons, Willie Gay Jr., K.J. Wright, Vick Ballard, Martinas Rankin, Tyre Phillips, Josh Boyd, Deljuan Robinson, Pork Chop Womack, Juan Long, and many more. 

The former player's appearance left an impact on Arnett, the team, and many fans.

"It means a lot. Obviously, we want an open-door policy," Arnett said. "We want those guys around as much as we can possibly have them. [First], because they gave a lot to our university and putting us on the map with what they are doing [or have done] at the next level. And [also], the fact of the matter is they invested a lot of effort, time, blood, sweat, and tears into this program and deserve to be welcomed back here. 

"We're awfully proud of them."
