Tennessee’s Defensive Star Makes A Huge Move, Entering The Transfer Portal
Caitie McMekin/News Sentinel / USA TODAY NETWORK

Like many other college football teams, Tennessee had its spring game over the weekend. It is always fun to see your favorite college team’s new and returning players before fall camp begins in August, but spring ball also brings in a lot of bad.

Spring Practices Open Up Injuries And Portals

A good amount of times, spring ball features a few injuries to players that keep them out for a short period or season-ending, and the spring transfer portal opens up, meaning players can enter the transfer portal once again after seeing where they are on the roster when spring practices are over.

Usually, a player who saw no action during spring practices enters the portal, but this Tennessee player would see much of the field in 2024. On Monday, he decided he would put his name in the portal.

Tennessee’s Elijah Herring Is Going To The Transfer Portal

According to On3.com, linebacker Elijah Herring plans to enter the portal he announced.

Herring led the team with 79 tackles last season, and losing Herring will be a significant blow to a Tennessee team that was supposed to do big things in 2024.

The SEC Is Going To Be Loaded In 2024

Tennessee is entering a new SEC this season, with the conference adding Texas and Oklahoma. If you thought the SEC was hard enough, it got much harder.

Texas is one of the best teams in college football, and Oklahoma is always good, so now you have to go through two teams to go along with Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, and the other top teams in the SEC.

It will be interesting to see how the SEC is this season if the Volunteers will hold their own.
