Tennessee Vols' top 2026 recruiting target reveals when he plans to announce his commitment
Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

The Tennessee Vols' top 2026 recruiting target, five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon, revealed this week when he plans to announce his commitment.

Brandon, who is rated as the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class, told 247Sports that he plans to announce his commitment after his junior season (which would be in December/January), though he acknowledged he could make his decision sooner if he gets "tired" of the recruiting process.

"I am planning on committing after this season," said Brandon. "If anything changes, or I'm getting tired of it, or I want to shut it down, maybe I'll do it before the end of the season but for sure I'd like do it after this season."

Brandon, 6-foot-4/195 lbs from Greensboro, NC, also told 247Sports that Tennessee, Alabama, and North Carolina are the three programs that are currently doing the best job of recruiting him.

Tennessee identified Brandon early on as one of their top targets in the 2026 recruiting class. That's essentially the same approach that the Vols took in their pursuit of 2023 five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava and 2025 five-star quarterback George MacIntyre (Tennessee won both of those recruiting battles).

The presence of former Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker, who is also from Greensboro, gives Tennessee an edge in this recruiting battle. The Vols, however, will need to hold off some top programs over the next several months if they're going to land a commitment from Brandon.
