The Tennessee Vols' 59-3 blowout win against the UConn Huskies this past weekend was surprisingly chippy.
Before the game even started, Tennessee players and staffers exchanged words with UConn players due to the Huskies warming up on the Vols' side of the field.

The chippiness continued during and after the game, culminating with Vols defensive lineman Omarr Norman-Lott parading a Tennessee flag through a group of UConn players.

On Monday, Tennessee defensive back Doneiko Slaughter was asked if he was surprised by how much "bad blood" there was between the Vols and UConn on Saturday.
"Yeah, I was actually surprised," said Slaughter. "UConn was talking so much trash. But you come talking trash, you get punched in the mouth -- we're going to answer as well. We want to keep a respectful game at the end of the day. But if you want to take it to that type of game, it can be that game all night."

It feels like the Vols are suddenly playing with the same type of swagger that we saw them play with during their memorable 2022 season. And it couldn't be happening at a better time as they enter an extremely important stretch of games over the final three weeks of the season.
If the Vols win out, including their bowl game, they'll finish with their second straight 11-win season. That's something that Tennessee hasn't accomplished since the 1997 and 1998 seasons .
