Tennessee Vols one of the teams to beat for an elite 4-star defender from Georgia

The Tennessee Vols are one of four teams in the mix to land a 2025 four-star defender from Georgia.

Four-star defensive lineman Christian Garrett told On3 this week that Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Tennessee are the four teams he's focusing on as he enters the home stretch of his recruitment.

Garrett noted that all four programs have an "equal chance" right now.

"Tennessee has really taken the time to build a relationship with me and get to know me on a deeper level," said Garrett to On3. "They always let me know that I am a need and not a want there. I have strong relationships with Coach Rodney Garner and Coach Josh Heupel. It is a blessing to have someone of Coach Heupel’s caliber even knows my name. He is a head coach recruiting me really hard.”

Garrett, 6-foot-4/285 lbs from Bogart, GA, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 16 defensive lineman in the nation and the No. 20 player in the state of Georgia.

The talented defensive lineman, who is planning to commit later this summer, will take an official visit to Knoxville on June 21.

Tennessee currently has seven players committed to its 2025 recruiting class, which ranked No. 13 in the nation.
