Son of longtime Oklahoma State HC transfers
Former Oklahoma State Cowboys quarterback Gunnar Gundy (12) Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Gunnar Gundy, son of Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy, is exiting Stillwater on stage left.

The Oklahoma State quarterback entered the transfer portal in December and has since committed to Ohio University, where he’ll join a Bobcats team fresh off a successful 10-3 season that included a victory over Georgia Southern in the Myrtle Beach Bowl.

Gunnar made the announcement official on Friday.

Gundy spent three seasons with the Cowboys but never managed to secure a starting role. He appeared in just nine games with one start and opened this past season in a three-man rotation at quarterback. He completed 40-of-73 pass attempts for 449 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions during his Oklahoma State career, adding another 120 yards and one score on the ground.

In addition to Gundy, two other Cowboys have also hit the transfer portal — safety Lardarius Webb Jr. and defensive lineman Ricky Lolohea.

Ironically, less than 24 hours before Gunnar’s commitment to Ohio, Bobcats tight end Tyler Foster transferred to Oklahoma State.

Mike Gundy will enter his 20th season as Oklahoma State head coach in 2024 but his son will not be along for that ride.
