Another class of former Bulldogs are making their long-time dreams of playing in the NFL a reality this weekend during the draft, and the most recent to do so is Robert Beal who has been drafted by the San Fransisco 49ers. Beal was a five-year player at the University of Georgia and played in every single game during his last two seasons.

At the NFL combine event, Beal ran a 4.48 in the 40-yard event at 6-foot-4 and 247 pounds. He also posted a 30" vertical and a 10' 3" in the broad jump. Beal is an athletic specimen who has a lengthy history of playing outside linebacker in the SEC for one of the most dominant defenses in the sport.

Coming out of high school, Beal was rated as a four-star prospect, a borderline top-ten player in the state of Georgia, and a top-ten player at his position for the 2017 class. He saw a significant amount of playing time as a true freshman and starter in eight games during his final season with Georgia. He finished his career with 72 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks. In 2021, he led the team in sacks with 6.5.

Beal appeared in three SEC title games, the college football playoffs twice and helped the Bulldogs secure back-to-back titles over the past two seasons. He carries a lot of experience to the next level and while he may not have stuffed the stat sheet necessarily over the past five years, but he was a major contributor on one of the best defenses in the country and played a role on that defense from the very start to the very end. And there's a lot of value to that.
