Rebels Set to Host Transfer Portal Edge Tyler Baron
USA TODAY Sports

OXFORD -- The Ole Miss Rebels are set to host former Tennessee Volunteers edge rusher Tyler Baron, reports indicated on Thursday.

Baron is scheduled to visit the Texas Longhorns, Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide alongside a visit with the Rebels, and the initial report of his plans came via On3.

Over the course of his four-year college career, he has registered 102 tackles and 13.5 sacks. Baron is a native of Knoxville, and he played his prep ball at Knoxville Catholic, so he will be searching for a home away from home in the 2024 season.

This is just the latest visitor news for the Rebels this week, as Ole Miss is scheduled to host former Texas A&M defender Walter Nolen as well as the Florida Gators' Princely Umanmielen. This newfound transfer momentum has been noticed and felt around the program, as noted on Wednesday by quarterback Jaxson Dart.

"Absolutely," Dart said. "I think when you're on the verge of doing something that a school has never done before and you're playing at a really high level as a team, I think that definitely catches the national eye. Coach [Lane] Kiffin and all our coaching staff make this a really exciting place to be. It catches a lot of people's eye, and a lot of people want to come here."

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is in the midst of navigating the portal as well as prepping his team for a New Year's Six bowl game against the Penn State Nittany Lions on Dec. 30. The Peach Bowl matchup between the two teams is set for 11 a.m. CT in Atlanta, and the game will be televised on ESPN.
