By now, it is no secret that the Ole Miss Rebels are going all-in on the 2024 college football season. The Rebels recruited the No. 3 transfer portal class in the country, per On3, and successfully retained multiple key contributors on both sides of the ball.

With spring practices just around the corner, CBS released its top storylines around college football entering the 2024 season, and the publication believes a first-ever playoff berth is on the horizon for Ole Miss.

"Lane Kiffin's group can legitimately dream about a playoff spot and beyond this season," CBS writes. "Kiffin plucked 17 transfers out of the portal, landing 247Sports' best transfer class. Jaxson Dart is a fire starter quarterback who will begin the season on Heisman Trophy lists. Because there are no more divisions, there is no Alabama or Texas A&M on the schedule. (OK, yes, Ole Miss still has to play Georgia and LSU.) Ole Miss claims three national championships -- all on paper. A playoff berth in Year 1 of the expanded CFP would be the biggest thing in Oxford, Mississippi, since The Grove."

Speaking of Jaxson Dart, CBS also listed the senior quarterback as one of the six players expected to receive early Heisman Trophy hype this season.

"Because of Dart, the Rebels can dream of that playoff spot," CBS writes. "And free private plane rides."

Dart is currently tied for the third-best odds to win the Heisman in 2024.

All the flashy portal additions would mean nothing if Dart decided not to return to Oxford in 2024. Fortunately for Ole Miss, Dart will be back and will have an extensive amount of talent surrounding him as the Rebels aim to shake things up in the playoffs this year.
