Rebels' Dart, Harris Named Top 10 QB-WR Duo in 2024
© Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Ole Miss Rebels receiver Tre Harris took no time becoming quarterback Jaxson Dart's favorite target in his first season in the Southeastern Conference. After catching four touchdowns passes in Week 1 and rewriting the Ole Miss history books in the process, Harris emerged as one of the best players at his position in the SEC last season.

In 2023, Harris led all Ole Miss wideouts with 985 receiving yards and eight touchdowns on 54 receptions and finished fourth in the SEC with 18.2 yards per catch.

With Harris and quarterback Jaxson Dart both returning for a final year at Ole Miss, expectations have soared for the duo entering the 2024 season. 247Sports released rankings on Friday for the Top 10 quarterback/receiver duos in college football, and Ole Miss' tandem of Dart and Harris landed at No. 8.

"Only two teams in last year’s SEC were more effective at moving the ball than Ole Miss," 247Sports writes. "The Rebels’ rise to prominence under coach Lane Kiffin is largely predicated on offensive success, and that should continue in 2024 with Jaxson Dart returning for a third year with the program. Which of Tre Harris, incoming transfer Antwane Wells and returner Jordan Watkins leads the team in receiving remains to be seen, but Harris already has a strong connection with his quarterback after racking up 54 catches for just under 1,000 yards and eight touchdowns in his debut season in Oxford."

Harris enters next season as Ole Miss' undisputed No. 1 wideout, but fans should still anticipate a rather fair distribution of the football between the top three receivers on the depth chart. Senior Jordan Watkins will also be returning after finishing third on the team in receiving, and the Rebels also received a commitment from former transfer Antwane "Juice" Wells.

The Rebels loaded up on weapons this offseason, but Harris will likely surpass his first-year stats at Ole Miss so long as he can stay healthy in 2024. The former transfer missed two games due to injury last season.
