Quote from Georgia starter will have Vols fans mad at Butch Jones and Jeremy Pruitt all over again
Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

A comment that Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Zion Logue made this week will have Tennessee Vols fans mad at former UT head coaches Butch Jones and Jeremy Pruitt all over again.

Logue, a Lebanon, TN native who started six games for Georgia last season and was included on the Senior Bowl watch list in 2023, was asked on Tuesday if he was recruited by the Vols.

The Tennessee native, who was rated as a four-star defensive end in the 2019 recruiting class, offered a recruiting story that doesn't paint Jones and Pruitt in the best light.

"That was Butch Jones and Jeremy Pruitt, I wasn't really highly touted," said Logue. "I went up there a couple of times, stayed up there eight hours one day. Didn't even really get looked at. Come down here (to Georgia) going into my senior year, get an offer from here, get back on the interstate, on 316, and Jeremy Pruitt calls...so [there] wasn't really a big relationship with them."

Ouch.

Logue grew up a couple of hours west of Knoxville. And while he said he didn't grow up a big Vols fan, he noted that his family was made up of Tennessee fans. It seems likely that if Jones and Pruitt had been all-in on him from the start of his recruitment, that he would've ended up wearing orange in college.

But for whatever reason, Jones and Pruitt both misevaluated Logue. And it wasn't until Kirby Smart offered Logue that Pruitt realized he had made a mistake. As a result, Logue will be on the opposite sideline on Saturday when Tennessee takes the field against Georgia in Neyland Stadium on Saturday.
