Roughly 20 years ago, an Oklahoma Sooners legend joined the program through the 2004 recruiting class. Adrian Peterson, a recruit from Palestine, TX, would soon become one of the biggest stars in the program’s rich history.

Now, his younger brother, Nelson Peterson Jr., is in the recruiting cycle looking to find a home for his college football playing career. The Forney, TX, recruit, as mentioned, is the younger brother of the former five-star recruit and Sooners legend. He’s a 6-foot-3 quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class.

Peterson posted on social media, announcing that he will be attending the Sooners’ “Future Freaks” event on Saturday.

While Peterson is just one of many young, young talents looking to showcase their talents on Saturday, he’s arguably one of the most popular prospects, given his relation to an NFL legend.

Peterson doesn’t currently hold an offer from Oklahoma, but that could soon change. Earlier last month, he saw his first Division 1 offer come from Texas Tech after his sophomore season of high school, which saw him post 1,165 passing yards and a 15 touchdowns with three interceptions, according to 247Sports. He added 634 yards and ten touchdowns on the ground.

As the quarterback head into his junior season of high school football, he could soon be adding plenty more power conference offers, and attending the camp at Oklahoma might be able to elevate his potential in doing so.

Standing at 6-foot-3, 190 pounds at his age, Peterson’s physicals check out and, should he show his ability to throw the football, picking up an offer from Seth Littrell shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

The Sooners have already offered six different quarterbacks in the 2026 recruiting class. With the program transitioning to the SEC, keeping a forward focus is important as landing promising talents will be key to being consistent in the toughest conference in college football.
