Oregon WR Traeshon Holden Reinstated to Football Program

Oregon wide receiver Traeshon Holden has been reinstated to the Ducks football team, according to a statement from head coach Dan Lanning Friday night.

“Following the release of new information from the Lane County District Attorney’s office, student-athlete Traeshon Holden has been reinstated to the Oregon football team," Lanning said. "We will always take allegations of this nature very seriously. However, when new information is provided by authorities, such as in this instance, disciplinary action will be reevaluated and adjusted, when appropriate."

Holden was arrested earlier this month on charges of coercion, menacing and unlawful use of a weapon. He was then dismissed from the football program shortly after the arrest, but all charges have since been dropped and he is now back with the team.

The 6-foot-3, 214-pound wide receiver played for the University of Alabama from 2020 to 2022 and caught 46 passes for 570 yards and seven touchdowns. 

Holden is projected to be a big piece of Oregon's offense in 2023 after the Ducks lost their No. 2 wide receiver in Chase Cota who exhausted his college eligibility. The Crimson Tide transfer should slide into Junior Adams' wide receiver room nicely as a potential plug-and-play starter alongside returning veterans Troy Franklin and Kris Hutson.

There's also plenty of promising young talent he'll have to compete with including redshirt freshman Kyler Kasper, as well as 2023 wide receiver signees Jurrion Dickey and Ashton Cozart, the latter of which has already enrolled and is going through workouts with the team.
