Oklahoma's Danny Stutsman Snubbed for LB Award
Nathan J. Fish-USA TODAY Sports

Despite leading a defensive turnaround and putting up all the numbers, Danny Stutsman has been snubbed.

Oklahoma’s dynamic linebacker and inspirational leader was not among the 12 semifinalists announced Monday for the 2023 Butkus Award.

The Butkus goes to the outstanding linebacker in college football and is named after football legend Dick Butkus, who passed away last month.

Stutsman, who missed Saturday’s loss at Oklahoma State with a lower leg injury, ranks 25th in the nation in total tackles (73, or 9.1 per game) and ranks 10th nationally in tackles for loss (11.5, or 1.4 per game).

His TFL total ranks sixth nationally among linebackers, while his tackles total ranks 21st among linebackers.

Stutsman, a junior from Windermere, FL, collected 125 total stops last year in his first season as a starter. That total led the Big 12 Conference and ranked fifth in the nation.
