Oklahoma's defensive improvement is attracting the biggest of names. Five-star linebacker Jonah Williams cut his list down to 12 schools, and the Sooners make the cut.

The Galveston, Texas product listed top-tier programs to go along with Oklahoma in his top-12. In addition to the Sooners, he listed Oregon, Alabama, Texas A&M, TCU, Arizona State, LSU, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Southern California.
On On3, Williams is listed as the No. 15 ranked player nationally and the No. 2 linebacker in the country. These are the types of recruits Brent Venables has been seeking out to change the program heading into the SEC.
Earlier this year, the Sooners landed five-star defensive lineman David Stone, who will join Oklahoma in its first year in the new conference. Landing back-to-back five stars would be unbelievable momentum for Venables and staff.
In addition to starring at linebacker, Williams is also highly regarded as an elite safety. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound athlete has speed in the open field and strong ball skills that allow him to drop into coverage.
His recruitment is far from over, but it's a big win for Oklahoma's recruiting status that WIlliams is bought into what the staff is doing. A few wins down the stretch and momentum on the recruiting trail would likely go a long ways.
