Ohio State legend trying to recruit Texas QB Arch Manning

With the announcement that Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers was forgoing the 2024 NFL Draft and returning to school next year, many have wondered what the future holds for freshman phenom Arch Manning.

Faced with the possibility of riding the bench for a second straight season, it remains likely that Manning could enter the transfer portal and go to a new school where he may start right away.

While Manning would likely have his pick of schools should he go that route, former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett thinks the 6-foot-4 nephew of Peyton and Eli would look good in a Buckeyes uniform.

In a since-deleted tweet, Clarett tried to persuade Manning to consider transferring to Ohio State next season. He even tagged Arch himself and Peyton in the social post.

“Ain’t nothing like being a star at an elite school,” Clarett stated. “Quinn Ewers ain’t going nowhere soon.”

Clarett’s tweet came not long after Ohio State’s 30-24 defeat to Michigan, its third straight loss to its Big Ten rival following an eight-game winning streak against the Wolverines from 2012 to 2019.

It was arguably the worst game of the season from Buckeyes quarterback Kyle McCord, who completed 18 of 30 passes for 271 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. It was just the second time this year he threw multiple interceptions in a game.

While McCord hasn’t played poorly, some wonder if he’s the QB to get the Buckeyes back to the College Football Playoffs. He’s tied for 19th in the country touchdown passes (24) and ranks 23rd in passing yards (3,170) and 27th in completion percentage (65.8).
