Ohio State holds top spot in College Football Playoff ranking

There is no change at the top of the College Football Playoff rankings this week as the Ohio State Buckeyes hold onto their No. 1 spot for the second week in a row.

There is also no change with any of the top four as Georgia (No.2), Michigan (No. 3) and Florida State (No. 4) all hold onto their positions from the first ranking a week ago.

The committee still sees Michigan as a playoff team despite the uncertainty surrounding its alleged sign-stealing scandal. The Wolverines play one of the biggest games of the week on Saturday — and perhaps the biggest game for its playoff chances — when it travels to Penn State.

Penn State moved back into the top 10 this week and holds the No. 10 spot in the ranking.

Here is a look at the complete ranking for this week:

Florida State was able to maintain its spot in the top four despite struggling with a two-win Pitt team, while Georgia's win over Missouri was not quite enough to unseat Ohio State.

Some of the other noteworthy rankings here are Arizona, Iowa and North Carolina all making their debut this week.

Oklahoma State also received a big boost after its Bedlam win over Oklahoma, while Kansas also made a big leap up to the No. 16 spot.

The big losers in this week's ranking were LSU, Notre Dame and Oklahoma.

With three losses LSU and Notre Dame are pretty much eliminated from any serious playoff consideration, and are now simply playing for New Year's Six games.
