NCAAF Week 4: Florida State Seminoles vs. Clemson Tigers betting picks, preview

Florida State made a statement in Week 1 with its win over LSU. Clemson did too, it just wasn't a very positive one (a loss to Duke). This week we will get a very clear indicator of who the best team in the ACC really is. For Clemson, this looks like a playoff elimination game too. There is a lot at stake for both sides in this early matchup.

My first response to this line was wondering when the last time Clemson was an underdog at home. It has to be some time ago, right? (According to a report in The State, it was 2016.) With this short line your best bet is to pick the side you think will win. The Tigers have won the last seven games in the series and covered in the last five. There is lot of room for this one to move in both directions. 

Picks for Florida State vs. Clemson

Florida State -2

Florida State's result against Boston College last week was less than encouraging. They got away with the win even though the Eagles made it close late in what was a classic look-ahead spot. The handicap for me this week is simple. Florida State has more playmakers than Clemson this season, especially at quarterback (Jordan Travis) and receiver, and in big games you need guys who can make those winning plays. Given the location of the game, it feels a little bit wrong to fade Clemson but I do not see where they have any real sustainable advantage against Florida State. This feels like the moment when the Seminoles reclaim the top of the conference. 

I feel good about FSU but I am going to wait on this line to see where it goes. If it gets to -2.5 that looks like the time to strike (so we can be under -3). Or you can just play it straight on the ML and hit it now.
