Michigan assistant Mike Hart is 'trending in a positive direction' after sideline seizure

Michigan running backs coach Mike Hart left the Wolverines' 31-10 victory against Indiana early in a way that can only be described as scary. Hart had to be carted off the sideline and taken to the hospital after he appeared to suffer a seizure in the first quarter.

It was a scary moment, one that left his players visibly shaken up. It's moments like those that truly transcends football. When the opponent doesn't matter and the health of the person in question is far more important than the final score.

Case in point, coaches from the Indiana sideline came over to check on the Michigan assistant. Notably, Hart coached in Bloomington from 2017-20.

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh didn't have much of an update after the game, but he reiterated the point above. At that moment, football was secondary.

It really puts things in perspective," Harbaugh said, according to ESPN. "In the moment, everybody's thoughts were with Mike. Mine were and everyone around us was to get him the care that he needed ...The most important thing is his health at that point in time."

Michigan did release an update on Hart on Monday, written by the coach himself, which is encouraging. Though it's still unknown what exactly happened to the former star running back, the good news is that he's back home in Ann Arbor and it sounds like he feels positive about the next steps.

"Health-wise, I am back in Ann Arbor and things are trending in a positive direction," Hart wrote. "I look forward to rejoining our team soon."

Best of luck in your recovery, coach!
